HITS Workshop

April 3- 5, 2008

Purpose: This workshop is designed to provide Scholars an opportunity to envision the future of healthcare delivery in order to design, implement, evaluate and disseminate innovative educational strategies that will prepare graduates for contemporary practice in an information rich and complex healthcare environment.

Objectives: Participants will be able to:

Analyze the need for technology enriched educational environments.
Explore emerging and converging technologies to enhance nursing education and practice.
Refine a technology specific curriculum project to implement at your institution.
Develop strategies for leading curriculum change in your respective institutions.
Use various metrics for evaluating outcomes of innovations in education.
Network with colleagues who have similar passions for implementing technology advances in the curriculum..

The workshop begins at 8:30 AM on Thursday, April 3 and ends at 7:30 PM on Saturday April 5. Plan to stay for the entire workshop. For a detailed agenda click here.

Lodging: A block of rooms has been reserved at The Quarterage Hotel / Q Hotel & Spa at the daily rate of $94 for single or double occupancy. Ground transportation: Kansas City is serviced by the Kansas City International Airport located 23 miles form the Quarterage Hotel.

1) Economical transportation between the Quarterage Hotel and the airport is available through Overland Limousine Service or Super Shuttle.

2) Transportation between the Quarterage and KU School of Nursing for the program will be provided by the Quarterage Hotel without charge.

What to wear: Spring weather in Kansas City can vary. Also, it may be difficult to control temperature in meeting rooms. You may want to dress in layers. Recommended dress for the workshop is business casual with comfortable shoes for the field trips and evening walking tour.
