We thank you for your interest in the HITS Program. Below is a list of commonly asked questions. Is travel and hotel accommodations covered for the on-campus workshop?

There is no registration fee for the Scholars program. Up to 3 hotel nights, refreshments and lunches will be paid by the HRSA grant.
Scholars are responsible for travel, additional hotel nights, meals outside of the conference, parking and other incidentals.

I am from a University outside of the United States, is this program open to me?

We apologize, since this is a federally funded grant, we can only offer the program to faculty in the US. However, as we develop and implement the program, we will be disseminating the information widely via conferences and online.

I am not a faculty member, however I am very interested in HITS. Can I still apply?

We think it would be great if you and a faculty member applied. Because of the nature of the funding, we most likely would not select you alone, but as a team, it could work. You should complete the application and let us know the faculty member who will accompany you. Both you and the faculty member must complete an application; however, you will only need one letter of support from the Administrator of the school. The letter should mention both applicant’s names.

If two faculty members from the same institution wish to apply, do we need to complete two applications?

Yes, you will both need to complete the application form; however, you will only need one letter of support from the Administrator of the school. The letter should mention both applicant’s names.

Do I need to be a member of NLN to apply?

No, you do not need to be an NLN member to apply to the Scholar's program.  If you are a member and would like to give us your NLN member number, please do so.

When will I be notified of my acceptance or rejection?

Scholars will be notified of acceptance by November 21, 2008.
