Call for Scholars

Submit applications for 5th and Final year of the HIT Scholars program here.

A Call for Scholars is issued in mid September of each year of the grant. Deadline for submission is the mid October. Participants will be notified before the end of the year.

For 2011-2012, applications are due on October 21, 2011.  Scholars will be notified of acceptance by early December 2011.

Responsibilities of Scholars:
Upon acceptance in the program you agree to:

  • Complete web-based modules by mid February.
  • Attend a 3-day workshop in February. This year’s workshop will be held February 23-25, 2012 at the Marriott Hotel Country Club Plaza, Kansas City, Missouri.
  • Submit a plan for an integrated technology project at your institution.
  • Participate in webinars and forum discussions throughout the year that are designed to support. Your learning and assist you as you develop your project.
  • Implement and evaluate your project, and submit a final report.

Please note that participation in this project requires a commitment of time and effort over the course of an entire year.

Criteria for Selection

  • Evidence of interest in information technologies
  • Evidence of ability to provide leadership for curriculum change in the institution
  • Personal goals for participating in the HITS program
  • Quality of proposed project and congruence with the goals of the HITS program
  • Diversity of faculty backgrounds
  • Strong support from program administrator

We encourage two faculty from the same institution to apply; however, individual applicants will be accepted.  If two applicants are from one institution, each will need to complete an application form.  Only one support letter from the program administrator is required.  Please mention the name of all applicants from your institution in the letter.  The support letter needs to be included in a single e-mail to healthinformatics@kumc.edu).

Please read the application carefully and review the FAQ section of the website.  We expect both applicants will work on a single project and this needs to be clear on your application when you tell us about your proposed technology project.  You must complete the entire application in one sitting.  You will not be able to save and return to the application, so please be sure you have all the information you need before starting the application process.  It may be best to review the application first, take note of information you need from other sources, and lastly complete the application online.
